Women's Basketball Falls to Wilmington University

WILMINGTON, DE -- The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team placed three players in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies lost 85-77 in overtime to Wilmington University. The meeting was the first for Bloomsburg head coach Bill Cleary and his former team.

The Huskies led by as many as 12 points in the first half and went into the locker room with a seven point lead at 43-36. In the second half, Bloomsburg used a 10-2 run to start the period to grab a 15-point lead at 53-38. Coleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) scored four points in the run for Bloomsburg.

Wilmington then went on a 22-2 run over the next seven minutes to take a five point lead at 60-55 and then later stretched the lead to 10 points at 71-61.

Bloomsburg, though, put together a 13-3 run over the final four minutes to tie the game at 74-all at the end of regulation. Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) hit a three-pointer with eight seconds left to force overtime. Gallagher had also added a jumper and Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) four points in the rally.

In the extra session, the Huskies could only manage two free throws from Niemah Brooks (Philadelphia/Frankford) and one from Gallagher, while Wilmington scored 11 points to get the win.

Kegerreis scored 21 points and had 12 rebounds, while Gallagher also finished with 21 points and seven rebounds with Monica Dennison (Zion Grove/Hazleton) chipping in with 13 for the Huskies, now 3-2. Kim Parker led Wilmington, 4-1, with 32 points.

Bloomsburg hosts Lock Haven on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
